Company Overview

History of the company

Focus Infotech was established in 1997 to leverage on the opportunity provided by the Y2K challenge that had to be resolved before the end of the millennium. It chose to meet the challenge by producing competent SW professionals with custom-made, rigorous short-term training program for engineers and computer graduates. Even as a start up company, it competed successfully with a host of established companies to be awarded the Business Associate status by TCS.

Incorporated in October of the same year as a Private Limited company and rechristened “Future Focus Infotech” (FFI), it commenced its operations in Chennai and Bangalore, trained over 300 engineers, partnered with TCS in the successful execution of Y2K projects and concluded its first fiscal with a revenue of over INR 20 lakhs.

As the Y2K skills requirement petered out, the year 1998-99 saw FFI venturing into e-commerce training. FFI also started providing solutions for consulting requirements from TCS and other smaller clients for skills other than Mainframe, viz. Web Technologies, Microsoft Client Server technologies, Java, Oracle and so on.

It was during this phase that the FFI Management felt the need to enhance on the service offerings and foray deeper into the IT domain. This resulted in the establishment of a Software Development Centre to cater to domestic as well as overseas markets. The SDC in Chennai was inaugurated in 1999 and a few months later a second one in Bangalore was established. By the end of 1999-2000, these centers had over 50 software professionals executing projects for domestic clients like India Cements and Mistral and a few US based customers. This was the period which gave inception to our wholly owned subsidiary, Focus America, Inc. then based out of Georgia, Atlanta.

Foreseeing the potential in IT Technical Consulting Services, we went through an internal reorientation and restructuring to focus singularly on IT Technical Consulting Services and Career Management. We provide technical services in software development and BPO, for our international clientele, through our software development center (SDC) at Chennai. The SDC comprises of an exclusive team of well-qualified and experienced IT professionals, providing offshore software development and onsite technical consulting services.

The dotcom bust in 2001-02 resulted in the FFI Management deciding to close the Training Division and the SDC at Bangalore. However, SDC – Chennai, an STPI unit, continues to thrive & execute projects for our US based clients.

  • Primarily, three core functional groups manage the domestic offerings – Business Relations (BR), Business Delivery and Business Maintenance. The BR group develops and maintains the relationship with prospects and customers for contracts, requirements, fulfillment and purchase orders. The Delivery team work on the specifications received from BR to locate right profiles and follow through till the selection process. Business Continuity Services (BCS) carry forward the relationship with the consulting employees handling deployment & post deployment, and beyond also addressing re-deployment/reallocation needs. All regional locations – Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune are peopled with these functionaries headed by a Location Head or a Regional Manager. They are supported by identified Country Managers at the corporate level, who in turn are customer, technology or vertical aligned.

    The FFI offshore (OSS) team consists of qualified Software professionals, viz. developers, testers, technical leads and project managers.

    The organization’s Quality Management system, FiQMS, established and implemented in 2004 has well defined processes for all the above mentioned services. The QA system of reviews and audits at all stages ensures delivery conforming to customer specifications thereby ensuring higher levels of customer & consultant satisfaction. Over the last 5 years, continual improvement has been achieved by measurement of performance against objectives, data analysis and review, and suitable corrective action as required.

    FiQMS – automated ERP solution developed in-house by FFI over the last three years - covers all the critical operational processes and facilitates real time monitoring of key performance indices. Context sensitive email alerts generated by the intranet application right through the workflow - from the receipt of customer requirement through fulfillment to billing – ensure minimal delays and deviations.

    Hari L Mundra, Chairman & Director

    Hari L. Mundra, Chairman & Director, Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd., is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (1971).

    He was with Hindustan Lever Ltd., India, for about 24 years joining them as Management Trainee, Accounts in 1971. He worked through two countries (India and Indonesia), three businesses (Personal Products, Detergents and Exports) and several positions both in the Financial and General Management domain. In 1985, he became Company Treasurer in charge of Corporate Finance and Taxation and later moved to the INR 2000crore Detergents Division as Group Commercial Controller in charge of its Buying/Purchasing, Planning/Logistics and Accounts Departments. He was appointed to the Management Committee of Hindustan Lever in 1990 as the youngest Vice President (Commercial), and in 1991 took charge of the exports business as Vice President / Director (Exports).

    In 1995, he joined the RPG Group, the fourth largest Indian Business House in the country at that time, as Member of the Group Management Board in the dual capacity of the Chief Financial Officer of the Group & President & Chief Executive of the Carbon Black Business. During his 7 year tenure with the RPG Group, he handled almost INR 3000 crore worth of M&A deals in India and overseas, closed INR 1200 crore worth of M&A transactions and raised INR 750 crore of long term funds for the Group companies.

    In 2002, Mr. Mundra joined the Wockhardt Group as Executive Vice Chairman of Wockhardt Ltd., in charge of its domestic Pharma business and as Vice Chairman of Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd.

    In September 2003, he was invited to join the Essar Group as the Deputy Managing Director & Director Finance of Essar Oil Ltd., an integrated Oil & Gas major and was responsible for resurrecting, refinancing & restarting its INR 15000 crore Oil refinery project. As a result, by November 2007, when Mr. Mundra retired from the Group on reaching the super-annuation age, the Company was clocking an annualized turnover of INR 18000 crore, with a market capitalization that had moved up dramatically from INR 3000 crore to INR 30000 crore.

    During his extensive & most accomplished career, Mr. Mundra has been associated with a number of professional bodies in Finance, Taxation & Exports and has been an active participant at the policy making level as member of CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM and Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He has recently joined the Managing Committee of Indian Cancer Society as its Honorary Treasurer and Trustee with a view to help turning around this 57 year old NGO.

    M.V.Subramanian, Director

    M.V. Subramanian (MVS) is a Mechanical Engineer by qualification. He has worked through the various departments like Tool Design, Process Planning, Quality Control, Vendor Development and Quality Assurance in the early part of his career with GEC Alstom Limited. In his QA profile, he was responsible for the implementation and ensuring the ISO 9001 certification for four major divisions of GEC ALSTOM INDIA LTD, spread over different locations in India. He has over 23 years of professional Experience.

    MVS is one of the founders and Managing Director & CEO of the organization. He also heads the Finance Function.

    Trained in CMM practices, he was responsible for establishing the internal QA team and identifying the quality processes for the IT Technical consulting/software development business' of the company, in line with the requirements of Focus' Customers overseas, primarily in the USA.

    He is associated with various professional bodies and actively participates in Entrepreneurship development programs. He is a Charter Member and part of the Governing council of TIE Chennai. He is also a Member of Planning and Monitoring Board of the AMET University.

    Veerendra P Mathur, Director

    Veerendra Mathur (Veeren) has played an instrumental role in the growth of Future Focus Infotech. A post-graduate in Pharmacy, he is one of the founders of the organization. Veeren has served in various capacities and shouldered several responsibilities within the organization's hierarchy. At various periods of his tenure, he has performed in diverse roles. Prior to his induction as Managing Director, he was responsible for HR and the Marketing departments, separately. He was an integral part in the construction of the IT Technical Consulting services business of the company, now branded as TechSource - Focus's flagship IT Technical services offering.

    In his current capacity as Jt. Managing Director, he is the head of the organization's Services Delivery and holds the additional portfolios for General Administration and HR. He also heads the Internal IT & QMS department of the organization. It is Veeren's hands-on attitude and single-minded commitment to the growth of Focus that has established his success.

    He is a member of the Executive Committee and Office Bearer of the ERA (Executive Recruiters Association). Veeren holds the office of Treasurer of the ERA at the National level.

    Sadhana Somasekhar, Director

    Sadhana Somasekhar heads the organization's business operations. She has over 18 years in Business Development and Strategy, in the IT industry.

    She was responsible for Focus' organizational metamorphoses and branding into an entity with a value offering of a one-of-kind (in the conceptualization of Strategic IT HR and Managed Solutions).

    Sadhana is a post graduate in Medical Pathology from Mumbai, and a Post Graduate Honors in Systems Analysis from the National Institute of Information Technology, Chennai.

    Prior to her foray into Focus in 2003, she has held various portfolios in business. She joined Aurelec Data Processing Systems in 1990. Following Aurelec’s transition to Nexus Computers Pvt. Ltd., a steep career rise saw her in the capacity of Vice President- International Operations.

    In addition to her role in driving Focus' domestic business, she is President of Focus America, Inc. the wholly owned US subsidiary of Future Focus Infotech. In a short span of 2 years, she was responsible for the turn around of a hibernating business in the US to the USD 5 million entity that it is today.

    She is a steering committee member of the NASSCOM Women in Leadership– IT (WIL-IT) initiative.

    In 2007, she was recognized as a "2007 India Athena Award Nominee" by Athena International.

    Ashish D. Jaipuria, Director

    Ashish D. Jaipuria is an alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, with a post graduation in Finance & Financial Markets.

    Besides being accomplished academically, his innate flair for the financial markets has brought him wide acclaim as a financial wizard of sorts. His business interests largely centre on financial investments both, in equities, and in governing shareholdings in prominent business houses.

    In addition to being a Director and the major shareholder of Future Focus Infotech Private Limited, he also manages the Jaipuria Family Office as its Principal Manager, overseeing investments in Private Equity and Real Estate Venture Funds, as well as in the Indian Equities Derivatives Market through complex algorithmic and other statistical trading models. He has major vested interests in Kiduja India Limited in the capacity of its controlling shareholder and Managing Director.

    A Global Citizen in his own right, he has visited over 40 countries across the world and international travel/business has become a way of life. He is very well connected in the Business, Corporate and Banking circles, especially in Mumbai, borne out of his membership to many a prestigious associations, such as The Royal Commonwealth Society (UK), The Institute of Commercial Management (UK), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, The Indian Merchants' Chamber, The Bombay Management Association, and The Indo-American Society, to name a few.

    As an active Director of Future Focus Infotech, Ashish brings in value through his expertise in strategic financial management and structuring.

    Ashutose Sanghai, Director

    Ashutosh Sanghai is a Post Graduate in Financial Derivatives from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. He has an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore following his Bachelor of Commerce from the Sydenham College of Commerce ad Economics, University of Bombay.

    As Director and major shareholder of Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd., Ashutosh is primarily the expert Financial Analyst on the Management team.

    He is also the Director of Nile Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., and responsible for the management of the Family’s Investments. In addition to his management profile in business, he runs complex algorithmic and other statistical trading models in the Indian Equities Derivatives Market.

    Executive Team
    M.V.Subramanian - Managing Director

    As CEO of the organization, M.V. Subramanian (MVS) leads Finance, Commercial and a few other corporate departments of Future Focus Infotech. The organization has recorded a YoY growth of over 30%. The stability and health of its bottom-line have been strategically managed and controlled by its Finance department in alignment with its very finance-savvy BoD.

    Veerendra P Mathur - Joint Managing Director

    In his executive capacity as Joint Managing Director of Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd, Veeren heads the organization’s HR, General Administration, and Business Delivery Teams. He is also the Head of its Internal IT Department which has been instrumental in the indigenous development of the organization’s integrated ERP system- the Focus Portal and FiQMS (Focus Integrated Quality Management System). This has been an important and flagship achievement in the organization’s profile. The FiQMS, a first-of-its-class software system has been designed and developed for the Consulting and Recruitment industry-profile of the organization, helping in optimizing and fine-tuning all aspects of its business for added competitive advantage. This has gone a long way in aligning the organization’s business motives to be in synch with those of their customer’s and thereby in its establishment as a true participant of a Knowledge-based economy.

    Sadhana Somasekhar - Joint Managing Director

    Sadhana heads the global Business operations of Future Focus Infotech, managing the Business Development & Business Continuity Services within the organization. In her added capacity as President of Focus America, Inc. she is responsible for Business Development and Delivery in the US. She is also responsible for Public Relations and Corporate Communications for the company. The Gender Diversity and Inclusivity initiative of the organization, WoW (World of Women) is spear-headed by Sadhana. The organization is currently exploring organic and inorganic expansion opportunities encompassing services and geography diversification.
